An exceptional luxury mid-to-late 20th-century silver-plated oval photo frame manufactured by the historic British silversmith Richard Comyns in Sheffield, England.
This premium vintage piece embodies a sleek, Midcentury Modernist minimalist aesthetic, featuring a clean, high-polished border with a curved profile that creates elegant visual depth and timeless sophistication.
A standout collector's detail, this frame retains its original jewel-toned claret red velvet easel back and stand—a luxury feature rarely found on modern minimalist productions, which typically rely on standard black or grey backings.
The inner rim is clearly stamped with the official manufacturer hallmarks:
R.C – Maker’s mark for Richard Comyns
EPNS – Electroplated Nickel Silver (High-quality British silver plate)
SHEFFIELD ENGLAND – City and country of origin
Dimensions:
External Frame Dimensions: 30 cm (Height) x 25 cm (Width)
Display Footprint: Requires 14 cm of depth when the easel stand is fully extended
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The silver-plated front face is bright and reflective with only minor, superficial hairline micro-scratches consistent with light handling. There is no base metal bleed-through or heavy tarnishing. The original claret red velvet backing is immaculate, un-faded, and structurally sound. The original metal swivel pins are fully intact, and the easel stand holds the frame securely at its proper upright viewing angle. Original glass face included.
