This Vintage French Luxury individual honey or condiment serving dish was likely created by L Seiler for Sevres Cristal.
The dish features a brilliant molded crystal bowl set within an ornate gilt brass tripod mount. The design follows the neoclassical Empire style, popular in France between 1900 and 1935. Unsigned as the items by L. Seiler for Sèvres Crystal were normally only signed with a foil sticker.
Design & Materials
The Crystal: A removable, fire-polished crystal insert featuring a classic diamond-point (pointes de diamant) exterior and a radiant sunburst/starburst engraving on the base;
The Mount: A three-footed (tripod) gilt brass stand with ornate floral scrollwork and distinctive "lion's paw" feet;
The Handles: Two high-swept faux bamboo handles;
UV Reactive: This piece contains manganese (used as a 1920s-era glass clarifier). It displays a characteristic faint green glow under 39nm UV light torch, confirming its authentic vintage age.
Condition & Quality
Metal: The gilding remains exceptionally bright, particularly on the tripod legs. No significant pitting, verdigris, or "green rust" is present.
Glass: The crystal is clear and vibrant. No major chips, cracks, or "flea bites" to the rim or base.
Fit: The glass insert fits securely within the original custom-molded metal frame.
