Elegant and rare, this vintage English Silver plate Breakfast Cruet Set for six, or 12, eggs was created with real imagination.
Each flower shaped egg cup is about 6 cm tall and 4.5 cm diameter. The pierced area of the cup starts about half way. The base has 6 posts for the egg cups.
Due to the hand made nature of this item they are all slightly different in diameter, therefore, they are all slightly different, but eventually all egg cups find their place - it took me a while to figure out which cup fits which post when I first tried to assemble this cruet set!
There are little oval pierced spaces for 6 additional eggs too - all in all, you can either use it for 6, or for 12 eggs.
The feet are elaborate eagle claws, each holding a ball or a round stone. I don't think I have seen a more beautifully made egg cruet / breakfast server.
Dimensions: diameter is about 21 cm or 8 1/4 inches;
Height is 16.5 cm or about 6 1/4 inches
it could be that the handle was a historic replacement, as there is an additional hole in the base for a broader base but I am not sure about it, as the current handle is antique, it sits beautifully and does not move nor wobble.
The condition is good antique, with signs of age and use like minor spots, stains, scratches, patina, etc - all attributing to its yeara of age.
