Genuine antique porcelain, not a modern reproduction.
Exceptional antique Coalport porcelain part tea set: two cup and saucer duos, two additional saucers for cake or biscuits and an an open bowl on a plate. This set features the highly coveted "Apple Green Batwing" design (Pattern No. Y2665), showcasing a crisp white ground, vibrant apple-green panels, intricate hand-painted central floral bouquets, and 22k gold gilded scrollwork.
Rarity & Historical Significance:
The Pattern: Designed under the direction of Coalport’s legendary art director, John Randall. The apple green colourway is significantly scarcer on the market than the traditional cobalt blue version.
The large cup size: this oversized version was produced in limited quantities for substantial servings.
The Backstamp: Features the printed crown mark with "ENGLAND" printed directly above it. The absence of the word "MADE IN" explicitly dates this specific piece to the early production window of circa 1891–1919.
Dimensions:
Cup Diameter: 10.5 cm (excluding handle)
Saucer Diameter: 15.3 cm
Condition Report:
Gilding: Excellent condition. The heavy gold scrollwork, scalloped rims, and handle accents retain their original brilliant luster with minimal handling wear.
Porcelain: Clean white ground. Face of the porcelain is free of chips, cracks, or hairline fractures.
Glaze: Clear glaze with some age-related surface wear and typical for the antique English porcelain crazing on some of the items.
Materials: Fine Bone China, Porcelain, 22k Gold Gilt
Era: Late Victorian / Edwardian
Pattern: Y2665
Origin: Shropshire, England.
