A rare and distinguished piece of Victorian craftsmanship, this golden oak gentleman’s cabinet dates from the end of 19th century and is a superb example of dual-purpose design — part decor, part discreet indulgence.
Constructed with solid quarter-sawn golden oak and finished with finely detailed metal mounts, this cabinet features double doors front and back, opening to reveal a deceptively simple front interior with a couple of thin dividers — until closer inspection reveals a false back velvet clad panel concealing a hidden compartment perfectly sized for two square-bottom whisky decanters, each would be sized about 3 1/2 to 4 inches wide 10 inches tall.
Dimensions: Approx. 12 inches or 30 cm x 12 inches 30 cm, height 11 inches or 28 cm. Heavy.
Good antique condition with scratches, loss of brass plating on metal parts, cracks in wood shown in the photos, solid structurally. Working lock with original key.
