Late Victorian Belle Epoque Aesthetic Movement Hardwood Inlay Pen Tray, or Stationary Box, constructed with only wooden joinery. The fine mitred corners are made with keyed spline reinforcement in contrasting wood (visible on the photos) which is a hallmark of skilled cabinetmaking found in Continental European work, likely France or Austria. The parts are held together by visible round wooden dowel pins, no nails used. The tray has a vertical-grain softwood bottom panel.
The blotter is Arts and Crafts Edwardian Celtic Style. It is wrapped in embossed leather and monogrammed LC. It is in good vintage condition with small loss of leather on the side corner. It has embossed initials on top - LC. It is 6 inches long x 3 inches wide x 3 1/2 high.
The inkwell is hand moulded French intensely coloured yellow glass with hinged polished brass. It is in good condition with miniature speckles/dust, no cracks, no dents. It displays light fluorescence in UV light so circa 1890-1900. Possibly by Pantin Crystal Works, France. It is about 6 cm or 2.3 inches tall.
