Presenting two breathtaking Continental European Art Nouveau glass solifleur vases, likely from the Bohemia region of the Austria-Hungarian Empire, circa 1900 to early 1910s. These stunning examples of Floriform glass, attributed to the prestigious Wilhelm Kralik Sohne workshop, showcase masterful hand-blown artistry combined with intricately cold painted toleware bases.
Design & Craftsmanship:
Each vase features a vibrant intense purple ribbed glass stem that gracefully transitions to translucent and finishes in a five-petal flower opening of oily, iridescent, pearlescent glass.
The toleware pedestals are elaborately cold painted in two complementary grey shades, decorated with typical Art Nouveau flowing lines and scrolls.
One pedestal displays a charming strawberry leaf motif with robins drinking from leaf bowls.
The other features a delicate young shepherdess in Tyrolean dress, complete with stockings and a green hat, depicted walking in the Alps with a stick.
Though not a matched pair, these vases beautifully complement one another and are sold together as a unique set.
Dimensions & Weight:
Height: 24 cm (9 inches) each
Flower diameter: approx. 15 cm (6 inches) and 12.5 cm (4 3/4 inches)
Metal base size: approx. 10 cm (4 inches) wide x 7.5 cm (3 inches) deep
Weights: 434 g (shepherdess vase), 472 g (bird motif vase)
Condition:
Good antique condition with no chips or cracks in the glass.
Wear consistent with age on gilding and paint—original enamelling partially retained.
One pedestal has lost a scroll element on the back; original silvering on flowers is faded.
The glass stems have been ground at the ends to fit securely into their bases (appearing as minor ground chips inside the tube fittings).
Typical hand-blown glass inclusions and bubbles present, adding character and authenticity.
Entirely original, untouched, and well-preserved examples of European enamelled art glass and toleware from the Art Nouveau period.
