This is a listing of the quality antique English silver plated butter servers or caviar presentoirs with revolving Dome Cover, standing on Lion Feet. They can also be used to serve jam, jelly, pate or any other food delicatessen. Estimated to be of Edwardian era, created in Art Nouveau style. Marked on the underside Kemp Brothers, Union Street, Bristol on one of the dishes. the other one is marked with a number. these are a pair and are sold together as a rare pair.
Condition: Good antique condition, with a few small dinks on the dome shown in the photos but no loss of plating, some spots on the bottom under the glass inserts - just normal signs of use and age, attesting to their antique status.
These Presentoirs come without glass inserts - any round or flat bottom glass dish, from 7.5 to 9 cm in diameter, would fit. I will include two antique mold glass dishes 7.5 cm diameter for your convenience. These glass inserts/dishes date to about 1900 as they show calcium additives in UV light (I attached a photo).
These Caviar Presentoirs are not lightweight aluminium later replicas, but a real vintage pair. They are weighty and have antique mark.
Dimensions: 12.5 cm in diameter and 11 cm high or about 6 inches in diameter and about 5 inches tall.
