Incredibly stylish German Art Deco roll-top cigarette/cheroot box, c. 1920–1930, made for export to the UK (marked Ges. Gesch. & Foreign). Faux tortoiseshell celluloid/early plastic with brass mounts.
Good vintage condition with patina, scratches and some small losses on the black enamelled sides, one bun foot is repaired/replaced. Crack on the celluloid at the back. A little miniature golden tuck is missing on the left side - it does not affect the stability, just reporting for accuracy.
Approximate width is about 8.5 cm, height is about 8 cm. The box weighs about 320 grams - so it is not lightweight.
Great unusual item to decorate art deco or Hollywood Regency interior. Genuine period piece in iconic deco colours. Please see the photos, all vintage items are sold as they are found - they were loved and used before.
