This footed ewer showcases premium hand-crafted techniques from the height of the British Stourbridge art glass eras. Features a perfectly matching, original precision-ground stopper with integrated engraving.
Bulbous clear glass body meticulously detailed with hand-executed, copper-wheel engraved daisy or marguerite blossoms, and delicate stylised foliage.
Separately formed, hand-applied reeded celery-style loop handle featuring a beautifully crimped lower terminal. The body is joined to the foot via a classic twisted or wrythen stem.
The base features a professionally ground and highly polished pontil mark, indicative of superior manufacturing. Original to the piece stopper with matching engraving on the finial and a precision-ground joint ensuring an airtight fit.
Manufactured during a transitional chemical era using manganese as a decoloriser, giving the glass a highly desirable, slightly darker antique patina in natural light. When exposed to a UV light source, trace elements yield a faint yellow-peachy fluorescence.
