A beautiful, very ornate 19th-century French Palais Royale table bell. These were used in a hotel lobby or to use at dinner table

Decorated with three creamy Irridescent pearl shells with beautiful natural tones of pink, green and lavender and intricate gilded metal ormolu bunches of grapes.

The ormolu remains bright and shiny.  The base is made from possibly alabaster.

To ring the bell to you push down the little loop and the bell loudly chimes.

Condition:

Very good antique condition. The plaster base has a minor dink where one of the attachments is connected. One of the shell pieces has a nacre thinning and a hole at the bottom part shown in the photos, it also has deep scratches. There are normal signs of age throughout like scratches, stains and patina, attesting to its age and authenticity.

The metalwork is clean, the bell has some ormolu losses exposing golden hue of the base brass underneath - all in all, this object has beautifully aged, giving it its charm. The sound of the bell ring is still loud and lovely.

Measurements:

Height is about 8 cm

Base diameter is about 8.5 cm
