An elegant French Art Nouveau solifleur vase, produced circa 1898–1910 and attributed to the Nancy school.
The vase is crafted in layered cameo glass, acid-etched to a soft satin finish. The colouring transitions beautifully from an olive green foot, through warm amber and copper tones, to a milky opalescent upper section, separated by a stylised scalloped motif reminiscent of mountainous or landscape forms — a hallmark of Art Nouveau naturalism.
The form is a classic soliflore, with a slender cylindrical neck rising from a gently flared foot. The base shows a ground and polished pontil, consistent with French production of the period. Unmarked, as commonly encountered with Nancy school commercial lines.
A refined and atmospheric piece, well suited to collectors of Art Nouveau glass, Legras / Mont Joye, or fin-de-siècle French decorative arts.
Condition
Antique condition, commensurate with age.
There are a few small flea bites to the upper rim, typical of early 20th-century acid-etched glass and only noticeable on close inspection. No cracks or repairs.
