An exceptional and rare antique tobacco jar by Doulton Lambeth dating after 1883 and before 1891 with added impressed Doulton Slater Patent and signed with FL for possibly Frances Lee for the overseeing artist, and with both impressed and signed marks for the senior assistant artist Mary Goode, showcasing the rich craftsmanship of the late 19th century Aesthetic Movement for Chinoiserie style and early years of Arts and Crafts movement.  Model X1346 dating the jar to 1893-1890 as there is no England below Doulton Lambeth stamp (before 1891).

This piece is made from ox blood red  chiné ware patented by Slater and features white hand-painted Chinoiserie daisy flowers with blue accents, offering a striking contrast against the deep red glaze.

The jar is topped with a distinctive hammered Liberty style bronze lid — with a unique cross-shaped finial made from four metal strips, raised at the center and riveted to the lid in true Arts and Crafts fashion. The lid’s architectural form and craftsmanship reflect the influence of renowned design houses like Liberty & Co. and the ethos of handcrafted utility.  The bronze

Condition:
Excellent antique condition. The ceramic surface is clean and well-preserved with no cracks or chips. The metal lid shows a beautiful natural patina, consistent with age. Some minor wear expected for a piece of this age, such as flee bite in the bottom rim.  The bronze lid fits beautifully on the neck of the jar.
