This a beautiful example of Doulton Burslem Biscuit Barrel with silver plated mount, swing handle and cover, с 1893-1902.
Set in silver plated mount around the top edge, handle and lid by Daniel & Arter, famous silversmiths from Birmingham. Satine ivory at the bottom graduating to lightly textured blush tone at the top, decorated with dots and applied floral garlands.
Marked to the underside for Doulton Burslem Registered Number (shape) 184623, with a crown on top as the company was awarded the Royal Warrant for the quality of their works. Also marked to the silver plated edge and to the underside of the lid D&A model G7844 for Daniel and After.
Dimensions: about 5 inches without the lid and almost 8 inches, including the finial on top of the cover. About 5 inches base diameter.
Good antique condition with a couple of very small dinks on the bottom, age related yellowing on the silver tone on top of the lid, some minor patina around the edge of the inside rim, the jar is nice and clean inside. No chips, hairline cracks, no wear to the decoration.
