This late Victorian Gold and Silver Bullion Cash Box has two square compartments for Gold and Silver coins and an integrated compartment for Bank Notes. It was made circa 1880 to 1900s in England. It is upholstered in black leatherette outside and has red silk inside.
The box has two lined compartments with lifting lids. Each with gold embossed Gold and Silver words with the original leather finger lifts to the lids. The lid has a further compartment for Notes, again embossed in gold.
Internally the wear is exceptionally light. Externally the surfaces are clean and carrying very little wear only that, that would be expected from use and 150 years of age.
It's very rare to find these boxes in such good clean, complete (although no key found) condition, the only point to note as the leather hinge of the internal lid has been reinforced with what looks like black tape and there is some wear on it externally on the right side of it, I have taken a close up photo to show it. Also wear on edges and the underside. Otherwise very clean and showing beautiful red silk fabric.
The structure of the box is strong and sound and overall is in very good original condition.
