Geographia 10-inch Globe: Final Year of British Raj, Brass Meridian, Bakelite "Jelly-mold" Base

Makers mark: Geographia Ltd, 167 Fleet Street

Features:

Steamer Routes: detailed maritime paths;

Bakelite "Jelly Mould" Base Brown Outside, Dark Green Inside.

Dimensions: 39 cm high, 25 cm wide.

This Globe was produced between early 1947 and August 1947. This specific seven-month window is defined by the following cartographic evidence:

Unified India/Pakistan (Pre-August 1947): The lack of partition borders indicates it was printed before the British Indian Empire was divided in August 1947.

Thailand (Post-1945 use): While the name officially changed in 1939, many mapmakers reverted to "Siam" during WWII. Its reappearance as "Thailand" on Geographia globes at the 167 Fleet Street address is standard for 1947 editions.

Ceylon (Pre-1972): The name changed to Sri Lanka in 1972, consistent with your mid-century model.

Independent Tibet (Pre-1951): This matches the period before its status changed in the early 1950s.

Condition:

In bright neat condition with a few minor stains in the oceans areas - see the photos. Unrestored, uncleaned, original patina on brass.

Will be disassembled for the insured recorded delivery.
