A lovely example of an English antique tobacco jar.

The dark oak wood has been tinted into a deep mahogany. Throughout the age it also acquired beautiful patina, which is only found in older pieces and gives it a sense of age. The walls are made from strips of wood beautifully jointed together to display matched grain.

This cigarette barrel has an original patinated tin metal insert. These jars are rare survivors without deep cracks in the walls - they make fabulous biscuit barrels or tea caddies.

Height: 112.5 cm or 5.25 in
Width: 12 cm or 4.75 in
Weight: about 390 including the liner

Condition:
This early 20th century tobacco jar is in good antique condition, with some signs of age and wear, as shown in the photos. A few cracks on the bottom edge, some rust on the liner. Great colour on the sides, tinted to rich mahogany.
