Authentic English Victorian dome-top Keepsake Sewing or Jewellery Box, dating to circa 1870, made in Kent.

Crafted from premium figured walnut veneer, the box features stunning geometric Vandyke parquetry banding. These bands are flanked by hand-sliced Tunbridge Ware tessellated end-grain mosaic borders, confirming its origin from the historic Kent workshops. The lid centers an octagonal parquetry emblem with a mother-of-pearl inlay panel.

The lid opens to reveal to hand made dark emerald-green quilted textile lining, the walls are painted dark green. Please note that although the original mother of pearl key hole surround is missing, nevertheless the box retains its original working lock and key.

Condition: Honest age and wear consistent with a box of late Victorian period. Losses of veneer on edges/corners. The exterior finish shows patina and some crazing. Some shrinkage gaps and small edge losses to the inlay. Hinges and lock functional. No structural damage.
