Superb antique/vintage English silver plated caviar or seafood server with a lift off lid, revolving handle and glass insert. Could be also used to serve jam, butter or any other food delicatessen. The set includes a seafood or crustacean two prong set.
Condition:
Very good antique, with light surface wear and small areas untouched patina on the reverse side of the lid. The glass insert dish has very small 8mm by 3mm bite on one side (see photo 2), the area is very small and has no sharp ages - in my opinion, it is not worth replacing the original glass insert with a modern one, as the cracks are insignificant and do not affect usage. The lid has superficial scratches and small area of silver fading (see the photo 3) with vaguely brassy colour underneath so the metal is likely to be silver on brass. The metal frame and seafood fork are in excellent condition with no loss of silvering.
Approximate dimensions: the frame is 16.5 cm or 61/2 inches long, 13 cm or 5 1/2 inches wide, and 11 cm or 4 1/2 inches high, glass dish: 13.5 cm or 5 1/4 inches long, 11 cm or 4 1/4 inches wide, 5 cm or 2 inches high. The seafood fork is 15.5 cm or 6 inches long.
Weight is 880 grams - this fine dining set is not lightweight and has great quality.
