Early to mid-19th century French jewellery box, attributed to the Palais-Royal workshops, circa 1835–1855. Veneered in dark hardwood with fine lighter wood marquetry to the lid in a floral arabesque design.
The interior is lined in peach-toned silk, with original antique paper lining to the base. Raised on four miniature brass ball feet and fitted with a central ring pull handle. Light in weight and refined in construction, consistent with luxury personal boxes produced for the Parisian market.

Condition:
Good antique condition. Lock present; key no longer survives. Light surface wear and scratches consistent with age. One little ball foot replaced, little bite on one corner (all shown in the photos). Marquetry secure. Interior silk with age-appropriate wear, possibly replaced on the lid but not sure, as feels slightly different but the colour is matched.
The silk-lined interior and light construction are characteristic of luxury boxes retailed in the Palais-Royal district, Paris, during the mid-19th century. Many boxes sold there were made in small Paris workshops and then sold through Palais-Royal shops commonly unmarked.
