Antique English Cased Pocket Barometer Altimeter by Negretti and Zambra London

Antique English-made pocket barometer by Negretti and Zambra London, circa end of XIX century to beginning of the XX, in a lovely leather wrapped wooden case.

The barometer has an additional altimeter scale that can be adjusted by revolving the front bezel ring around the glass.

The barometer is in inches and feet. It is in working order and is encased in brass. There is a second bezel ring at the back but it does not seem to move and I do not know if it is purely decorative or if it serves any additional purpose.

The condition is very good with only small amount of dust accumulated under the glass on top (approx 1500 feet altitude mark, see the photos), some patina on the brass body and shallow scratches (probably patina-deep) on the back panel where it was probably opened for servicing (not by me). The barometer is in working order. The scale is as follows: Rain Change Fair.

The leather box is monogrammed AFL. The lining is velvet in warm "burned orange" colour inside the box and raspberry red silk inside the lid. It is in very good condition with only minor wear.

All in all it is a wonderful antique tool and great for use, display or as a special gift.
