Arts & Crafts cabinet in quarter-sawn oak with parquetry panels and four-panel front. Compact form with an unusual articulated drop-leaf mechanism to both the top and front, creating a stable working surface suitable for use as a grooming station or compact drinks station.
The piece was originally a writing box (c. 1890). It was professionally adapted in the mid-20th century with the addition of three small drawers (two short, one long) and internal fittings, converting it into a shaving cabinet while retaining the original structure.
Craftsmanship details include Art Nouveau-style pierced fretwork brackets, Mission-style side carrying handles, prominent brass rivets to the legs and side panels, and scalloped geometric feet. Interior features a tilt-out mirror on support arms and a moss-green velvet–lined upper shelf with fitted holes.
