A Sponge Box Surprise – With a French Accent
On a ramble through the shires (as one does when in search of nothing and hoping to find everything), I stumbled upon the most darling vintage round box. It looked exactly like something a 1960s housewife might have used to ferry a Victoria Sponge—homemade, of course—to a church fête, curlers still in, apron perfectly pressed.
Naturally, I opened it.
No sponge. But inside? A delightful surprise: a full set of vintage French porcelain dessert plates, adorned with red berries and the most charming little French phrases. Sweet nothings for your pudding.
They're adorable - far too lovely to hide away. I imagine them at a sunny garden tea, paired with strong coffee, gossip, and something scandalously sweet.
