It is formed in rich amber \/ smoked olive glass which reacts under UV light, characteristic of manganese-decolourised glass widely used in Central Europe before the First World War. One side features an Egyptian-inspired scene with pyramids and stylised landscape engraving, echoing the widespread fascination with antiquity following late 19th-century archaeological discoveries. The opposite side is adorned with finely enamelled and gilt herons, standing among engraved reeds and flowing water.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lower section of the jug is finished with a painted frosted grey band, an intentional design feature typical of the period and not later wear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe jug retains its ground and polished pontil, confirming hand finishing, and has an applied handle and shaped pouring lip.
